The Slough & Burnham Peace Symposium is a distinctive opportunity for faith and community representatives in Slough to impart their views on various subjects focussed on promoting a peaceful co-existence. Its aim are to promote better understanding between faiths and communities in order to develop a more harmonious society.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, fast growing international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, it spans over 195 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions.

We are the most dynamic denomination of Islam in modern history. Within just one hundred years, the community has rapidly spread to the far corners of the Earth, with branches in almost every single country. Its objective is to rejuvenate Islamic moral and spiritual values. It advocates peace, tolerance, love and understanding among followers of different faiths, and diligently tries to correct misunderstandings about Islam.

One of the beauties of living in Slough is being a part of its diversity. It has a multitude of cultural and religious variety, all of which coexists alongside one another.

In a unique environment such as this, occasionally it is important to share this splendid diversity with each other and remind ourselves of the things that we have in common, as opposed to those which set us apart. With each year that passes and the changing climate of the World, the need for this becomes more and more apparent. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community hosts the annual peace conference every year to share the common values that shape our society towards peace.

Peace Symposium 2014

This year's Peace Symposium has been held at the Langley Academy on Saturday 26th April 2014, and the theme was “Love for All, Hatred for None.”
The theme has been chosen as a direct outcome from our National Peace Symposium, where His Holiness, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat and Fifth Khalifa said:

To strive for peace is a noble ambition and is something that the world has always stood in great need of. If we look at the situation of the world today, we realise that now, more than ever, it is a pressing and urgent need of the time for us to seek and pursue peace and harmony in the world.

If we want true peace and if we want to save the world from destruction then we must act with justice, integrity and be ever faithful to the truth.

Celebrating 100 Years

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK Centenary 1913-2013

The UK branch of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community was established in 1913 and it has a proud history of achievements over the past century including building London’s first mosque which was built in 1924. The Fazl Mosque in Southfields has the added distinction of being the only mosque in London known as ‘The London Mosque’.

In Britain alone the community now has 101 branches from Glasgow to Cornwall. It has also opened a number of mosques including the award winning Baitul Futuh Mosque in south London, which is the largest mosque in western Europe and was voted as one of the top 50 modern building in the world by the Independent newspaper magazine.

The UK is also honoured as the worldwide head of the community, His Holiness Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, resides in London from where he leads the global community’s efforts for peace. The community remains committed to help others, engage with local communities and work for the common good. It is also very active in its charitable works and each year it raises hundreds of thousands of pounds for British charities. In 2012 alone it raised more than £350,000 of which £142,500 was donated to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Charitable Trust. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK will be marking the centenary year with a number of events throughout the UK – indeed 2013 will be a special year with a particular emphasis on the service to mankind and gratitude to God.
